One of my biggest beauty bugbears is having to do my make up in the morning when I’ve just woken up, my skin looks dull and puffy. Just an hour makes a world of difference, on the weekends when I get up slightly later and have more time, my make up always looks so much better and seemingly lasts for longer.
Because of this, I’m always on the look out for products which can help. I find toning helps the skin appear more refreshed and I love my acid toners, so a feature in August’s Vogue on Hyaluronic Acid (HA) caught my eye.
I was really excited to get my hands on Pestle & Mortar’s Pure Hyaluronic Serum* to try out, one of the products featured in Vogue which is a hydrating serum formulated with HA.
I’ve been applying this serum each morning and I love the results!
Hyaluronic Acid (HA) occurs naturally in our skin and helps keep the top layers constantly moist. As we get older, we produce less and thus our ability to keep the skin nice and hydrated declines (boo). HA binds up to 1000 times its weight in water, meaning it helps whatever you put on top last for longer, be that moisturiser, primer or make up … Whilst keeping skin super moisturised throughout the day as we contend with things like air con and the elements.
I apply two drops into the skin each morning after I’ve cleansed and toned, but prior to moisturising and applying my make up. Instantly upon application the skin feels hydrated and there’s a slight tightening feeling, similar to after applying toner. The skin looks visibly fuller and I’ve noticed my skin looking noticeably brighter after just a few days of using daily.
This product is free from lots of nasties (parabens and propylene glycol), fragrance free and not tested on animals. The product is also completely free from any raw animal derivatives, something not commonly seen with HA in the past.
Founded in Dublin just last year, Pestle & Mortar are now shipping their Pure Hyaluronic Serum* worldwide, receiving excellent reviews. Having tried this product and now incorporated it into my daily routine as a permanent fixture, I can certainly see why.
For a dewy skin look, apply this serum and follow up with MAC’s Prep & Prime Natural Radiance base under your foundation, followed by lots of highligher if strobing‘s your thing.
