NYX Intense Butter Gloss

I promised myself I would be good today and walk straight past all the makeup counters I have to weave through on my way to my meeting but alas … I have zero willpower.

NYX are my favourite drugstore / budget brand and I’ve had a heap of their lip products on my wishlist for ages, but have held off from buying online as the shades are so similar to one another.

As NYX have opened a stand in Boots, I finally picked up some of the products I’ve been eyeing for a while, including two of the Intense Butter Glosses. I had heard mixed reviews, but was pleasantly surprised by the formula when swatching in store and so decided to take a punt on them.

I picked two nude shades, Cookie Butter and Peanut Brittle. Both these swatches were created with one swipe and as you can see there’s good pigmentation and coverage. The formula does feel buttery and not too sticky which is a big lipgloss bug bear of mine (especially on a windy day, hair stuck to your lips, no thank you).

Peanut brittle is my favourite of the two colours, as it’s warmer and looks less harsh for me. Cookie Butter has a cool pink undertone whilst Peanut Brittle -these names are making me hungry- is a warmer terracotta shade.

On the lips, this buttery formula is actually great for smoothing and hiding fine lines. Despite feeling really rich and creamy it’s not too heavy and so doesn’t feel annoying to wear. I found the darker shade degraded more gracefully, as it blends better with my lips but this formula wears pretty well for a gloss and stayed put completely in-between drinking and eating. You’ll have to excuse my slightly bumpy lips, I had a juvederm top up two days ago and they’re still a bit swollen.

NYX Peanut Brittle

In comparison to the two high-end lip glosses I’ve been wearing most of late -which are by MAC and YSL- I would say this formula is considerably better. Nude lip glosses tend to be a bit on the sheer side for me or too gloopy, so I typically wear them over a matte nude lipstick. These Intense Butter Glosses are bold enough on their own and have longer wear than I associate with lipgloss, so at £5.00 -say whaaaaat?- I’ll definitely be picking up a few more shades.

Ooh I haven’t tried any of the Butter Glosses yet but I’ll definitely check them out when I’m next at a counter! I’m leaning more towards mattes at the moment but my poor lips are ending up so dry! xx

I’ve been having a massive matte moment of late and have to admit it feels almost like a relief to wear a gloss, so much easier even though I prefer mattes x

The butter glosses are next on my list!! I have been a huge fan of the matte lipgloss, but I think I want to start going back to some more glossy finishes <3 Love this post!!

Yay! I am in the same boat, I love a matte lip but glosses are so much easier to wear it’s nice to switch it up. Thanks Lauren <3

Ooh let me know what you think of them if you get them too? I’m all about the nude glosses too but yeah, sticky is such a pain! <3
