Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette

Last week I turned 28 and clearly my loved ones know me well as I got some awesome makeup related gifts, one of which being my Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette. I actually had it slightly early so I could wear it to an event, so I’ve worn it pretty much daily and I have to say, I’m obsessed.

I’ve watched Norvina’s Snapchats about the development of this palette and watched eagerly as it was sent out to MUAs for review. I have a handful of YouTubers whose opinions I trust but I try to never make a decision based purely on someone else’s recommendation, because obviously these things are quite subjective and when the product has come from a notable MUA it’s possible reviews will be politely positive at best. With that said, every single one of the YouTubers I rate came out with a video saying they liked the palette and created looks I loved, placing it firmly on my radar. When my Mum asked what I would like as a makeup related gift, I picked this palette and I’m so pleased I did.

I love neutrals and probably -ok definitely- don’t need another neutral palette, but I felt these shades looked quite unique and I’m loving a pop of colour this Summer. On closer inspection, there’s plenty of variation between each neutral shade and each has several lighter and darker cousins which along with the formula make blending far easier.

I’ve never tried an Anastasia Beverly Hills eyeshadow product previously, so was very pleasantly surprised by the formula. I would go as far as saying it’s one of the best I’ve used in a long while, as it’s so creamy and pigmented.

The colours are gorgeous so it’s hard to pick favourites but I’ve found myself reaching for these more than the rest. These were just one – two swipes so you can see how much colour payoff these have. From left to right: Raw Sienna, Burnt Orange, Primavera and Red Ochre. Primavera is perfect for an inner corner highlight and so far I’ve resisted rubbing it on my cheeks but I make no promises.

Venetian Red, Warm Taupe and Realgar.

Antique Bronze, Love Letter and Cyprus Umber. I think Love Letter is my favourite colour in the whole palette, I’m now searching for the perfect lipstick accompaniment.

These colours instantly make me think Summer into Autumn but these shades can be used to create so many different looks it’s a really versitile palette. I’ll be sharing some looks I’ve created using it soon, although at present I have an eternally red face from getting sun / wind burned whilst away.

Have you tried this palette? What do you think of ABH’s eyeshadow offering?
