On my second day in Paris, I woke up with a major macaroon craving and so decided to go and find the famous Laduree bakery. It was the cutest shop imaginable, mint green exterior with a window display of carefully stacked and colour matched macaroons.
I selected a pink box filled with chocolate, salted caramel, raspberry and rose flavoured macaroons.
The rose flavour was my favourite and I’m not ashamed to admit we went through a ridiculous amount of macaroons during our time there.
After sufficiently stocking up on macaroons, we headed towards the Eiffel Tower. I figured it would be nice to see, but it wasn’t one of the things on the agenda I was most excited by, however in reality it was so impressive and such a beautiful structure. I’m really glad I’ve seen it, although we didn’t hang around for too long, as pick pockets were rife in that area.
Paris is a blogger’s paradise; Marble everywhere!
I wanted to visit some of the ornate cemetaries of Paris, so we walked to Montmartre, a sprawling cemetery in the middle of a built up area, going under bridges at some points. It’s home to a group of stray cats, who we spotted cautiously wondering around.
Not content with the amount of junk we had consumed, we stopped at a crepe hut for some Nutella crepes, yum.
Something which has been on my to-do list for ages has been visiting the catacombs, which we had the chance to do this visit. I found the tunnels themselves to be really eerie, the thought of getting stuck down there as some have done doesn’t bear thinking about!
I fell in love with Paris and loved taking a city break for a change. We didn’t manage to do everything we wanted in our short time there so I look forward to coming back one day.
